◼ District ◼ Elementary School ◼ High School
1910
The class of 1910 was the first graduating class of the new high school, which, in truth, had started out as just one room of the Pleasant Hill School, a grades 1-8 school as most schools in the area were.
The first graduating class was evenly balanced between males and females, since half the class was Hattie van Vliet and the other half was Dougal Rankin.
I have been unable to find much information about Dougal Rankin, except that he was a member of the amazing 1910 baseball team, coached by THE teacher, Mr. Kilpatrick, which defeated EVERY school baseball team in Lane County, including the University of Oregon second string.

Other early school districts in Lane County:
- 1914 Crow District 35
- 1915-1916 Big Prairie/Hazeldell/Oakridge Dist. 76
- 1916 Portage Dist. 53
- 1919-20 Elmira Grade School, Dist. 139
We don't have a photo of that 1910 baseball team that beat even the University of Oregon "second string," but a picture of that second string team (labeled "junior varsity" or "JV" in today's language, showed up in the Eugene Register-Guard in January of 2008.
