Odette (Huntington) Hills
Odette Hills of Bend, formerly of Lowell, and 1938 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, died May 11th of age-related causes at the age of 86. No service was held.
She was born October 12, 1919 in Portland to John and Anna Lewis Huntington She married Jasper Hills on July 4, in 1939, in Vancouver, Washington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Stoops of Christmas Valley, Oregon; two sisters, Joan Soderstedt of Eugene, and Bonita Mauney of Ferndale, California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband died previously.
Arrangements were by Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home in Bend.

Almon E. "Al" Mauney of La Pine, formerly of Pleasant Hill and Trent, died April 6 of age-related causes. He was 85.
Trent was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Trent, to Ernest and Floy Guiley Mauney. He married Eunice Bartkowski on Sept. 4, 1954, in Eugene.
He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1938. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945, first on an aircraft carrier in the Guadalcanal campaign, then on PC 565 when it sank a German submarine, and later aboard PC 552, which was a control vessel for the Army on Omaha Beach.
Mauney was a beef cattle rancher in the Rattlesnake Valley, near Pleasant Hill, from 1961 to 1993. He had lived in La Pine since 1993. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, border collies, feeding birds, yard work and flower gardening, and his cat, Jerry.
Baird Memorial Chapel in La Pine was in charge of arrangements.

A graveside memorial service and burial was at noon Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Springfield for Neal Hartman Turnbull of Trent. He died Feb. 2 of age-related causes at age 87. Following the service, a reception was at Gatehouse Pizza in Pleasant Hill.
He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Clover Bend, Ark., to Tom and Ollie Blount Turnbull. He and his first wife, Noreen Pierson, were married from 1944 to 1975, then divorced. She later died. He married Jackie Weller on Sept. 20, 1976, in Reno, Nev.
Turnbull graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and served in the Navy submarine service from 1941 to 1945 as a machinist. He built logging roads, operated and repaired heavy equipment and worked as a machinist and small engine mechanic.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Zetta Alley of Portland and Zana Mays of Sherwood; three sons, Brad of Eugene, Kerry of Springfield and Michael of Cascadia; two stepsons, Arlen Weller of Camp Creek and Lee Weller of Dexter; two stepdaughters, Wendy Weller of Springfield and Christy Valentine of Eugene; a sister, Pauline Camerer of Springfield; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held December 28, 2004, for Rufus "Gale" Wallace of Jasper, who died December 23, 2004, of cancer. He was 84.
Wallace was born January 18, 1920, in Jasper to Jesse Calvin and Martha Callison Allace. He married Irene Pauline Rowe on February 3, 1962.
Wallace was a World War II veteran, serving in the southern Pacific Ocean from 1941 to 1945,
Wallace was employed as a logger. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden.
He was a member of the Jasper Grange and the Jasper Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Greg Buehler of Salem and Harry Kime of Eugne; a stepdaughter, Emmaline "Skip" Stevens of Eugene; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three [here the account ends, due to copying error]
