  • span class="style4 style3">25-Year Reunion NEWS

We have decided on the weekend of August 23-25, 2013. Friday night at 6:00 p.m. family dinner at Roaring Rapids Pizza on Franklin Blvd (formerly "Pietro's"). Families buy their own food and drink. Saturday night has been changed (see orange box below) Sunday, August 25 at 11:00: Family picnic at Jasper Park. We will provide burgers, hot dogs, condiments, and salads. We are asking everyone to bring either a dessert or chips or drinks to share, and contribute $10 per person (with a family cap of $50) to cover the cost of all that and also the reservation fees at the park and Roaring Rapids, postage, etc. Classes of 1987 and 1989 are invited to come to so we can share memories.

We need people's contact information for those NOT on Facebook so we can send them updates.

We want to know what you have been up to! We are working on a compilation of pictures and biographies. So please send us a current picture of yourself along with a couple of paragraphs telling us what you’ve been up to for the past quarter century and we’ll include it in the compilation. Additional pictures will be included as space permits. So send away!

Some ideas to include are: Education, career, family, pets, interesting vacations or experiences, & anything else you want others to know about your life since high school!

Even if you are unable to attend we still want to include you and you can still receive a copy of the finished product. Send info to: PHClassof88Reunion@yahoo.com or snail-mail it to Viki at 46830 Sunset Ave. Westfir, OR 97492 (She’ll send it back to you) Please send information by June 1! (Submit photos in the highest resolution possible, please)

We also are wondering what people's favorite 80's songs were. They can email suggestions to this same address.

UPDATE 1/23/13: I (Viki) contacted the Holiday Inn Express this morning. Our group discount is $50 off the regular room cost which makes rooms $109 standard or $119 suite. Breakfast is included and they have a pool, hot tub, and weight room. And the hotel is next door to the Boulevard Grill where Saturday night's dinner WAS GOING TO BE (see orange box below). There's also a lounge at the Boulevard. The rooms are reserved until two weeks prior to the reunion, but if someone books after that they can still get the discount if rooms are available. They can book over the phone (541) 342-1243 or (800) 456-6487 and ask for the "Pleasant Hill class of 1988 Reunion group block". Or they can book online at www.hiexpress.com/eugeneoregon and use the group code PHR.

UPDATE 8/1/13 Saturday, August 24 at 5:00: (This is the change!!) No-host dinner at McMenamin's North Bank. We have a room reserved and can overflow into the dining room if more people than expected show up. If people want to gather somewhere else afterward, that can be decided over dinner that night.

It should be noted that the few people who have paid the original cost of $90 per couple can get a full or partial refund to adjust it to the new cost. They just need to let one of us know.

Comments: Hi :)I am happily settled down in Oakridge with my husband Kevin and the two of my kids still at home (Jaci, 9th grade and Marshal, 8th grade). I have a 23 year old son and a 19 year old step daughter who out on their own and in college, and a 19 year old son in the army.

Kevin also has a daughter who lives in Springfield and a son and his wife who live in Redmond and they're expecting their first baby!! (Does that make me grandma?? Already!!?) lol :)

I currently work for the Dead Mountain Echo newspaper here in Oakridge (become a fan here on FB!). I'm the only paid employee, so it's pretty quiet. I'm learning photography and sometimes I get to write. I ended up there quite by accident after a twisted turn of events, but I really like it. The hours are perfect, there is no long commute, and I enjoy getting to learn the business so the owner/publisher can retire someday.

I moved to Oakridge in 2000 and absolutely LOVE it here!! During the summer we spend whole days swimming at the lake or river--there are some really awesome swimming holes up the North Fork--or whole weeks camping. And during the winter the snow falls often but it rarely sticks and accumulates, giving us the best of both worlds!

I'm too lazy to hike, bike, or ski, but I love watching the scenery from the seat of a Jeep or ATV.

We have a fire pit in our back yard where we enjoy sitting out during the evening with a drink or two and relaxing with friends and family. And there is a little bar up town that has karaoke on weekends. Yup...I'm a sucker! LOL

I guess I've become a hillbilly too, because I really don't like it when I have to go into the valley for whatever reason.

    :)

Occupation: I am currently a Firefighter with the Tri-Beach Fire Department

Comments: I just want to say I'm sorry I missed the 20 year...but at LEAST I wasn't the ONLY one to miss it. I have relocated and was unable to attend. HOWEVER, if we start throwing stuff together, say, like, every 5 years or so (would be nice..) I will make it a point to make the next one. I saw the pics, and was happy to see most of the class...but kind of bummed that more people (Lynda Powell, Kathy Norris, OB Babb , and so on..), myself included, weren't there. I have included 2 pics. One of me from my grad photos (in 1988 - with the Pleasant Hill Fire Department), and one taken 2 days ago (Currently a Firefighter with the Tri-Beach Fire Department in North Carolina).

Hope all is well with you back on the West Coast , and I hope to see you at the next reunion. GOOO Billies!!

    Sincerely ,

    Troy V. Thompson
