2019-20 Budget Committee Openings

The Pleasant Hill School District Budget Committee is a ten-member financial advisory committee consisting of five elected School Board members and an equal number of qualified district voters appointed by the Board for staggered three-year terms. The primary purpose of the Budget Committee is to bring public participation into the budget development process. Their responsibilities are governed by Local Budget Law, in Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) Chapter 294.

An orientation for the 2019-20 budget process will be held at the May 6, 2019, Board meeting. The Budget Committee will then meet at least two times: On Monday, May 20, 2019 they are scheduled to elect officers, receive the Superintendent's Budget Message, review the Proposed Budget and hear public comment. On Monday, June 3, 2019 they are scheduled to approve the budget and tax rates and to set the date for the public hearing by the Board. Monday, June 10, 2019 has been reserved in case a third meeting is needed. Once the budget is approved, the Budget Committee's responsibilities are concluded. The budget then goes to the Board for additional public comment, discussion, possible revision and adoption.

The District is currently welcoming applications for Budget Committee members. Applications will be accepted at the District Office through Monday, April 1, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Selection of new Budget Committee members is tentatively scheduled for April 8, 2019.

Applications are available online Budget Committee Application or in the District Office. Please contact the District Office at (541) 746-9646 with any questions.
