The Mobile Lab #1 of iBooks may be checked out for a week at a time, up to three weeks. At the end of your time, on the last Friday, you must transfer what files you want to CDs using the computer #01+ and delete the student files. It's easiest to use the little flash-memory drive that is supposed to be with the lab cart. You might consider spending $19 and buying a little flash drive ("jump drive") of your own. It is then your responsibility to get the cart to the next teacher by the end of that Friday so the receiving teacher can get things set up for the next Monday. That's what weekends are for: so teachers can get ready for the week.
Mobile Lab #2 does not have a CD burner in the first computer. However, like the first mobile lab, it is accompanied by a small purple hard drive the size of a quarter. Use that to transfer files to a computer that has a CD burner (Mac or PC).
If the lab needs to go to another building, you will have to finish by Thursday so that district personnel can load the computers into boxes and move everything by a vehicle (except between the junior high and the elementary). The cart alone weighs 137 pounds and each computer is 4.9 pounds. Then there's the printer and the projector. However, because of reduced district personnel, we can't count on the cart being moved on Friday. It might not happen until Monday or Tuesday, so the receiving teacher can't plan on having it set up when they want it. Try to plan your usage for the time when the lab is in YOUR building to save time. Luckily, we now have a truck with a lift gate, so you may not have to box up the computers but just wheel them onto the truck.
If you need to load on special software, plan accordingly for time and don't forget to remove it at the end of your turn. Contact Richard Adams at 710 or radams for scheduling. Below is what is currently schedule for the 2005-2006 school year.
